Dianne Holechek, who was married to actor and martial artist Chuck Norris, has died at the age of 84. Their son, Mike Norris, confirmed she has died from a long battle with dementia.
According to TMZ, their son reported the news of his mother's death, and that she had died peacefully in her Texas home. Further details have not been released, with Mike commenting she was the "greatest mom."
"We are thankful she is no longer suffering. She was the best, the greatest mom. We were so lucky to have her," he said.
Holechek was born on November 27, 1941, in Los Angeles, California. She and Norris met in the late '50s when they both attended North High School in Torrance and became high school sweethearts. By the time they were 18 and 17, they decided to tie the knot and got married in 1958.
As Norris rose to fame in Hollywood as an actor and martial artist, Holechek stayed by his side, maintaining a more private life than he did. The couple welcomed two sons, Mike, an actor, and Eric, a former NASCAR driver.
Their marriage faced turmoil when, in 1963, Norris had an affair while he was serving in the United States Air Force. According to reports, he didn't tell the woman that he was married, and it led to the birth of his daughter Dina.
After 30 years of marriage, Holechek and Norris separated in 1988 before their divorce was finalized in 1989.
Whether or not Holechek remarried after the divorce is unknown, seeing as she preferred to stay out of the spotlight despite her ex-husband's well-known fame. She's survived by her two sons and seven grandchildren.
Norris, 85, has not publicly commented on the death of his ex-wife.
