The episode sees Tommy and Cami negotiate a risky business deal with Gallino

It also sets the stage for a romance between Rebecca and M-Tex's geologist, Charlie

Love is bubbling up on Landman.

In season 2, episode 6, Cooper (Jacob Lofland) and Ariana (Paulina Chávez) charge full speed ahead with plans to tie the knot. When Cooper shares the news with his mom, Angela (Ali Larter), she’s over the moon and even offers him the ring Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) once used to propose to her.

There’s just one final hurdle: Cooper still needs the blessing of Ariana’s late husband’s mother, Isabel (Rosemary Dominguez), before making things official.

Elsewhere, Rebecca (Kayla Wallace) is scrambling to fix M-Tex’s offshore drilling crisis. She schedules a meeting with the company’s geologist, Charlie (Guy Burnet), only to discover he’s far from a stranger — but rather the man she became friendly with on the company jet.

Meanwhile, Tommy also has oil on the brain, negotiating the fine print of a high-stakes loan with cartel boss Gallino (Andy Garcia), the financial backer behind the offshore project.

So, what happened in season 2, episode 6 of Landman? Here’s a breakdown of everything that took place, from Tommy's business deal with Gallino to Rebecca's budding romance.

Why did Cooper meet with Elvio’s mom?

Ariana opens up to her late husband’s mother, Isabel, about her plans to marry Cooper in season 2, episode 6. She admits she never expected to fall in love again — especially not so soon.

“I’m not trying to replace Elvio,” she tells Isabel.

Isabel responds with compassion, reassuring Ariana that she can choose happiness. “You deserve to be happy. If he gives you that, then good. Elvio is gone. You can love a memory, but he can’t love you back. You’re still a young woman with passion in her heart. You need to be loved back,” she says.

Before giving her blessing, Isabel asks to meet Cooper and decide for herself whether he’s the right man for Ariana. After returning from Corpus Cristi, where he approached Ariana’s father for her hand in marriage, Cooper visits Isabel to make his case.

“I’ve never been in love before, but when I look at her, I just want to make her happy,” he tells Isabel. “Now that I’m with her, the only thing that makes me happy is her.”

Isabel appears moved by his sincerity and invites him to stay for dinner, signaling her approval.

How does Rebecca know M-Tex’s geologist?

In season 2, episode 4, Rebecca met an attractive stranger aboard M-Tex’s private jet. When severe turbulence heightens her fear of flying, the man sitting beside her offers his thermos, filled with vodka and watermelon juice.

The two end up drinking together, and the next morning, Rebecca wakes up in his bed, regretful of the one-night stand. They part ways shortly after, with Rebecca assuming she'll never see him again.

That changes in episode 6, when Nate (Colm Feore) arranges a meeting between Rebecca and M-Tex’s resident geologist. When she arrives at his office, she’s stunned to come face-to-face with Charlie — the man from the plane.

Rebecca asks Charlie to lead the offshore drilling operation, then the conversation turns personal. Charlie kisses her, and despite a brief hesitation, she kisses him back. He then offers to cook her dinner — an invitation Rebecca accepts.

What deal did Tommy and Cami make with Gallino?

Tommy heads to Fort Worth, Texas, to negotiate financing with Gallino for M-Tex’s $400 million offshore drilling project. Cami (Demi Moore) is also present, determined to play a more active role in major company decisions.

After a round of back-and-forth, Gallino proposes a deal, “60-40 with a 20% promote. All the 40 goes to the debt service until the loan is paid off, then it remains 60-40, but the promote goes away. We share the expense on the same scale, 60-40.”

In other words, the agreement splits profits 60–40, with a temporary 20% promote built in as an incentive. The promote serves as a bonus share tied to performance and disappears once the loan is fully repaid, while expenses are divided along the same 60–40 lines.

“That sounds like a good deal,” Cami says, bringing the negotiations to a close. She and Tommy shake hands with Gallino, who adds, “It’s my new goal in life, Tommy, to have you trust me.”

Why did T.L. punch someone?

Tommy’s father, T.L. (Sam Elliott), tags along on the trip to Fort Worth, where Tommy meets with Gallino at a horse auction. With business to handle, Tommy asks his dad to keep himself occupied while the negotiations play out.

T.L. settles into the stands and unexpectedly crosses paths with Nash Peters, a former roughneck from his landman days. Nash is at the auction picking up trash as part of his community service while serving jail time.

The two engage in an awkward conversation, with Nash asking about T.L.’s “pretty wife,” only to learn that she has died. As Nash attempts to keep talking, T.L. shuts him down, saying, “Nash, I doubt we talked this much when we worked together. I don’t see any point in doing it now.”

“You were always a dick,” Nash fires back. T.L. doesn’t miss a beat, responding, “Yeah, maybe so, but I ain’t the one picking up trash.”

The exchange quickly escalates into a physical confrontation, and Tommy rushes in after seeing his father punch Nash in the face. He manages to pull T.L. away from the arena, where T.L. later implies that Nash made a disrespectful remark about his late wife.
