When either Taylor Swift or Meghan Markle steps out wearing something cute, we're more than ready to snag the style for ourselves. But when they both seem to approve of the same clothing piece? That's when we know we have an 'It' item on our hands — and why we've recently been lusting after long white skirts.
Shortly after Swift was spotted rocking a shiny, pearl-colored maxi, Markle appeared at the InterEdge Summit in a white linen alternative. Their outfits gave off different vibes — the singer was dressed for transitional temps, adding a black top and overcoat, while the royal chose a coordinating sleeveless vest — but the concept and trend were still the same. In both cases, the long white skirt added a fresh, spring-ready twist and felt extremely elegant. These fashion icons are convincing Us that a long white skirt would be an easy staple to work into our rotation, seamlessly replacing jeans, trousers and other bottoms as the weather warms up. And we're not the only ones on board. Zendaya appears to be in on it, too. She slipped on a swishy A-line design from The Row to breeze through the airport, and completed her look with a coordinating jacket and black loafers. In early April, Lea Michele happened to take a similar approach to Swift's, pairing her own white skirt with a short-sleeved black top. And while Lindsay Lohan was in character on the set of Count My Lies, we appreciate her toughening up her mid-length style with a casual graphic tee.
