Todd Bridges and Bettijo B. Hirschi are going their separate ways.

After meeting through a friend and (sort of) a dating app — in January 2022, the Diff'rent Strokes actor and the designer got married that September. Their romance came nearly a decade after Bridges' split from his first wife, Dori, and following Hirschi's own divorce.

During their marriage, Bridges and Hirschi blended their families, raising children from their previous relationships together. They also collaborated professionally, launching the DANG! podcast, which featured candid conversations about "everything from love and family to mental health struggles like anxiety and addiction," per its official website.

After a little more than three years of marriage, the pair announced their separation on Jan. 14. The Celebrity Big Brother alum shared the news in a statement shared with PEOPLE, saying, "After much prayer and reflection, my spouse and I have made the difficult decision to separate."

He continued, "This was not an easy choice, and it comes with a heavy heart, but also with love and gratitude for the life we shared."

Hirschi — who attended Brigham Young University, per her LinkedIn — notes in her Instagram bio that she is a designer and photographer. According to her website, she also has over 25 years of experience in writing and editing.

Her work has been featured in several national magazines, including Real Simple, Allure and Parents, and she has even been a guest on the Martha Stewart Show and made appearances on local television.

She is a mother of four

Hirschi has four children: Rockwell, Modette, Attalie Anne and Piper. Her daughter Attalie is a singer-songwriter, who notes on her website that she is based in Phoenix and Provo, Utah.

Hirschi has been open about motherhood over the years, even going on to create a lifestyle and parenting blog, Paging Supermom.

Meanwhile, Bridges is a dad to son Spencir and daughter Bo.

Bridges and Hirschi raised their kids as a blended family, and the photographer noted on her blog that she was a stepmom to his children.

Bridges and Hirschi met through a friend and dating app

During a December 2024 appearance on the Tamron Hall Show, Bridges and Hirschi shared the story of how they met, explaining that it was thanks to a dating app — though not in the way that one might think.

Hirschi explained that following her divorce, she decided to give dating apps a try. But after six months of "bad experiences on the apps," she thought to herself, "'You know what, I'm good. I'd rather be just alone. I'm okay. Like, no thank you.' "

Unbeknownst to Hirschi, her friend — who also knew Bridges — decided she wasn't on the right apps, and created her a profile on a different platform. The friend then showed it to Bridges for "market research," and in a turn of events, he and Hirschi went on a date themselves soon after.

When they later wed, Hirschi reflected on their meeting to PEOPLE, saying, "I was supposed to actually be setting her up with someone else, but it didn't go that way. When I met her, I was like, 'I'm not going to set her up with anyone else. I want her for myself.' "

They got married in September 2022, nine months after meeting

Bridges and Hirschi got engaged six months after first meeting — and tied the knot three months later, in September 2022.

They wed at Greystone Mansion & Gardens in Beverly Hills. Seventy of their family members and friends attended the intimate ceremony, including their combined six children.

The celebrations continued with a reception at a nearby Italian restaurant, where Bridges and Hirschi shared a first dance to Etta James' "At Last."

Following their wedding, Bridges detailed his beachside proposal to Hirschi in a conversation with PEOPLE, saying, "I'd just all of a sudden decided that I wanted to get married to her and I proposed to her."

He added, "I got down on one knee and did what I was supposed to do."

They announced their separation in January 2026

On Jan. 14, Bridges shared in a statement to PEOPLE that he and Hirschi had "made the difficult decision to separate."

"I thank God for the time we’ve had together, the lessons we’ve learned, and the family we’ve built," he continued. "Even in this season of change, I trust He is guiding us both toward healing, peace, and new beginnings."

Bridges added, "I ask for privacy as we navigate this transition and continue to lift my former partner up in prayer, wishing them joy and fulfillment in the chapters ahead."
